More information : (TF 0345 0692). Former Railway Station, Stamford East, Water Street. The station for the Stamford and Essendine Railway was begun in 1855 by William Hurst (a) and is mostly of two storeys with ashlar walls designed in Tudor style. Except for a three storey square block on the SE., the plan is symmetrical; a central entrance hall is flanked by waiting rooms in gabled cross wings between which is a screen wall pierced by a round-headed entrance and an un-glazed upper window.
