Summary : Roding Valley station was opened on the Fairlop Loop by the LNER as a halt on 3rd February 1936. For the Central line projection from Liverpool Street, as laid down in the 1935-40 New Works Programme, Roding Valley was to become a tube station on this extension. For its new role the station was rebuilt in a pleasant lightweight style for tube trains, completed in 1949. The station opened to Central line trains on 21st November 1948.
