More information : TR 27006775. The Shuart Hoard - Late bronze Age. This hoard comprising of 23 items was discovered by a metal detector user at Shuart Farm. The first finds were made in 1982, with others coming to light at the same spot after ploughing over a number of years. Fragments of axes, swords, 'bun ingots' and cauldron legs were present. The hoard belongs to the Ewart Park/Carp's Tongue traditions of the later Bronze Age. (1) The hoard was fully published in 1988. It comprised mainly socketed axe, sword, and ingot fragments. The cauldron legs were found during the same metal-detector surveys that recovered the prehistoric bronzes, but the cauldron they belong to is more likely to be medieval in date. (2).
