Shuart Deserted Medieval Village

Hob Uid: 467017
Location :
Kent
Thanet
St. Nicholas At Wade
Grid Ref : TR2700067800
Summary : Possible Deserted Medieval Village of Shuart associated with the Church of All Saints (466861) which was revealed during excavation (Event 639316).
More information : TR 270678. Site of deserted medieval village at Shuart. (1)

Shuart is on the list of 69 places for Kent in Maurice Beresford and John G. Hurst (eds) publication on Deserted Medieval Villages (1971). In most cases there is nothing to prove that there was a village at the site in question. A deserted church site or isolated church certainly does not prove the existence of a deserted village.
