More information : A crouched burial was found in a chalk pit at Shuart Farm, St. Nicholas at Wade, in 1954, at a depth of 4 ft and orientated roughly north-south. Nothing was found with the burial. An extended burial at a higher level was also reported but it was not seen by Stebbing. (1) The burials were discovered, a little below the crest of a ridge, during the construction of a sileage pit. the site was indicated by the farmer at TR 26966772. No grave goods were found. (Mr. Stebbing is now dead). (2) Romano-British cremations found nearby. See TR 26 NE 73 (3)
