Summary : A Tumulus is mentioned here by W Somner in 1640 on the site of 20 and 21 St George's Terrace. The destruction of the houses by enemy action in the second world war exposed a mass of earth which may endorse the site provenance.

Little Dungeon (Dungill), a tumulus, mentioned by W Somner in
1640 (2) stood on the site of 20 and 21 St George's Terrace (3).
A considerable part of the mound still appears to exist. The
destruction of the houses on the Terrace by enemy action has
disclosed a mass of earth projecting here, and only here from
the inner side of the rampart. (2-3)
