More information : (SZ 62279994) King Charles's Fort (GT) (Site of) (1) Fort Charles, erected by Charles II on Gosport Hard, was about 150' square with a triangular bastion in the middle of the eastern face. In 1828 its ruins were almost concealed by the Castle Tavern. (2) Redoubt and Platform (3) The site of the fort is now occupied by Messrs Camper and Nicholsons boat yard, and no remains are visible. (4)
