More information : (SY 92388738) Almshouse (NAT) (1) Almshouses in East Street, Wareham of two storeys with brick walls and stone slated roof were originally founded by John Streche pre-1418, but were rebuilt in 1741 and have since been modernised internally. (2) Gde 2* (3). A hospital or house of charity in Wareham, founded for six paupers, is mentioned in a single 16th century reference and may be associated with the almshouse described above. (4).
