Summary : Bindon Abbey was founded in 1149, for Cistercian monks, by William de Glastonia on a site close to the present building at Little Bindon (SY 87 NW 1), being colonized from Forde Abbey (ST30NE15). The community moved to the present site (see SY88NE9) in 1172.
