More information : [SD86254018] Higherford Old Bridge "At Higherford, the Pendle Water is crossed by an early seventeenth century bridge only 9 feet wide between the parapets. The single arch is segmental in form and has double arch-rings both chamfered, built in two orders". See AO/55/300/8. (1) "Barrowford, Higherford Old Bridge - Scheduled. (5) (SD 86254028) Higherford Old Bridge (NR). (6) Higherford Old Bridge dates from the 16th or 17th centuries and is built of stone. It was originally used as a packhorse bridge on the route between Colne and Pendle Forest and was without sides until the parapets were added in 1814-1815. It remains in use as a footbridge. (4)
