Summary : In Aug 1812 whilst ploughing the brow of Jordan Hill in the same field as the Roman Temple (See SY 68 SE 11), labourers found an unbaked Roman urn filled with several hundred silver coins of the Lower Empire. The coins ranged from 244-286 A.D. and were chiefly from Gordian to Postumus. A late 3rd century hoard. |

(SY 6982) In Aug 1812 whilst ploughing the brow of Jordan Hill in the same field as the Roman Temple (See SY 68 SE 11), labourers found an unbaked Roman urn filled with several hundred silver coins of the Lower Empire. The coins ranged from 244-286 A.D. (2) and were chiefly from Gordian to Postumus. Many were obtained by Mr C Warne (3). Similar information, but found in 1816 not half a mile from Rimbury (4). (2-5)
