More information : [SX 9234 9233] Wynard's Almshouses (NAT) Chapel (NAT) (1) God's House, or Wynard's Almshouse in Magdalen Road were founded in 1436 by William Wynard for 12 poor men, with a chaplain, and a chapel of the Holy Trinity. The almshouses are of Heavitree stone, and are two storeyed around a cobbled square. They were rebuilt in the 17th century, altered in the 18th century and agin in 1863. The chapel, which dates from the foundation, has been considerably restored. All the buildings are now restored as Council Offices. (1973) (2,3)
