More information : Stocks Well, one of the town's system of three wells. Metioned 1656.

A rectangular, walled enclosure now dry, with flagged floor
situated at SD 74094169.
At the entrance are two stone uprights comprising the remains of
stocks. These do not appear to be 'in situ' and it is considered
probable that they were erected after their removal from the
Market Square.
