More information : (SX 72624527) Norton Remains of (NAT) Mansion (NR) (1) The ancient manor of Norton, in Domesday called Notone, and in a deed in the cartulary of Buckfast Abbey about the middle of the 12th century called Northdune. In the regin of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066) the manor was part of the Abbey possessions. (2) No remains of an early building exist. Norton is an 18th century rebuilding of an earlier house, much renovated. It is of rubble, partly plastered, with a modern hipped tile roof.
