Chaddock Hall

Summary : House, built in the 17th and 18th centuries, and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber framed with brick infilling, most of which has been rendered over, with a slate roof. The house is T-shaped and of two-storeys with a range added to left in the late 18th century.
More information : (SD 71140104) Chaddock Hall (NAT). (1) The estate is mentioned in 1332 as "Chaidok". (2) Chaddock Hall does not appear to be of any great antiquity on the exterior being mainly of modern brick. At the rear of the hall is a dated stone TC 1698 and on a drainpipe is SC 1780, referring to a date of restoration (a). In the interior of the house is a central wall of oaken beams with wattle and daub filling. There are no foundations of an older hall to be seen in the immediate vicinity of Chaddock Hall and it is possible that this Hall is similar to the nearby Garrett Hall (SD 70 SW4) ie.modern exterior partly original interior. Now a private residence. (3)
