Summary : Stone bridge, dated 1677, comprising two large semi-circular arches with a smaller arch, possibly a tow arch, at the western end. Built to replace a wooden bridge swept away in 1673.
More information : (SD 76320531) Ringley Old Bridge (NAT) (1) Ringley Old Bridge (Ringley Road), Circa 17th century stone bridge, now mainly for pedestrians. Grade 1. (2) Photographs. (3) Ringley Bridge built 1677 to replace wooden bridge washed away 1673 (4a). (4) SD 76330531. Ringley Old Bridge, dated 1677, a sandstone bridge across the River Irwell, consisting of 2 large semi-circular arches with a smaller arch, possibly a tow arch, at western end. (5) SD 763053. Ringley Old Bridge. Scheduled. (6) As described above. Parapet of bridge has been replaced with a yellow sandstone. Setts have been laid across the bridge. Bridge now pedestrianised. (7)
