Summary :

Bronze Age cist, 0.72m long, 0.5m wide and 0.3m deep. Two end stones and two side stones are in position but the coverstone is missing. The side stone 1.4m, southern side stone 1m, western end stone 0.6m and eastern end stone 0.5m. Present depth of cist is 0.3m. There is no barrow or cairn and the tops of the stones now protrude 0.15m above the ground. The Bronze Age cairn, recorded by previous authorities, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2019. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project.

Cist found during routine perambulation. Two end stones and
two side stones are in position but the coverstone is missing.
The tops of the stones are at ground level Length of northern
side stone 1.4m, southern side stone 1m, western end stone 0.6m,
and eastern end stone 0.5m. Present depth of cist is 0.3m. There
is no barrow/cairn. (2)

There is no reason to doubt that this cist is still in position
and as planned by (2) but it was not located during investigation.
It is is on a north slope at about 400m OD and currently in an area
of thick long grass.

Surveyed position 1950, accepted for 1:10000 PFD. (3)

Listed under round barrows, cairns and cists by Grinsell and
visited by him 14 October 1976. (4)

The Bronze Age cairn, recorded by previous authorities, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2019. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project. It is centred on SX 60874 66413. The cairn mound measures approximately 7.7m in diameter. A hollow in the top measuring about 2.1m across represents the position of the cist. Scheduled monument NHLE 1015755. (6)
