More information : (SX 23575830) Stone Circle (NR) (1) The stone circle at Duloe is the smallest in Cornwall with diameters of 37ft and 39ft (see plan). Seven of the eight stones which make up the circle are standing, the other is fallen and broken. All are of quartz and they vary in height from 3ft to 9ft. A hedge bisecting the circle was removed in 1858 and c. 1861 three of the fallen stones were set up. A BA encrusted urn with horseshoe handle (4) was found at a depth of 3ft during a vain attempt to raise the now broken stone. It contained human bones. (2-4) The slightly oval stone circle is 11.7 metres by 10.2 metres and the tallest stone is 2.4 metres high. The eighth stone is still recumbent. It is very well preserved. Resurveyed at 1:2500 (Scale applied to VCH plan erroneous). See G.P. (5) A Type A flattened circle consisting of massive quartz blocks, the origin of which is uncertain, see plan. The circle was restored about 1863 and some of the stones may not now be in their correct position. A ribbon-handled urn with cremation was found at the base of the NNE stone. (6)
