More information : At SX 14838092 about 60m SW of Little Rough Tor on the flattish top of the Roughtor ridge, at about 375m above OD, there is a mass of outcrop measuring 20m by 15m, flat topped, and little more than 1m high. In fair condition. A chamber has been constructed against the SW face of the outcrop. This face is vertical, 0.9m high and has a thin overhang extending out 0.5m, forming a natural roof or cover to the structure for 2.2m of its length. Immediately SE of this a broken or a weathered off slab 2.4m long, originally perhaps a continuation, now lies on the ground. The NW end of the structure consists of a single upright slab 1m wide and 0.8m high tucked beneath the edge of the overhang. The long SW side had five almost contiguous stones two upright and up to 0.6m high, one fallen, and two coursed blocks. Together they are 3.0m long, with the main chamber so formed now 2.3m long, 0.8m high internally, and between 1m and 1.2m wide. A half dozen slab stones lie inside, while outside, within a distance of 1.5m, are seventeen other stones, mostly slabs 0.7m by 0.3m and 0.1m thick. Obviously very old and to some extent deliberately ruined, the structure is uncomfortably small for a shelter and is completely exposed to the prevailing wind. It could have been a store for stone splitters tools. A slight possibility is that of an above ground cist. There is no evidence of a cairn and the turf covered stones on the top of the outcrop are relics of weathering but a parallel can be drawn with the Codda Tor structure and a lesser one with double cists at SX 13897977, both of which are above ground structures.
