Mag Stone or the Fiddler (NR) (1) Margi Stone (NR) or the (NAT) Fiddler (NR) (2) Magi Stone (NR) or the (NAT) Fiddler (NR) (3) A standing stone, 7ft 6ins high (4) formerly stood on the ridge in line with the Nine Maidens Stone Row (SW 96 NW 1). It has been broken up in modern times (5). According to Borlase it was 'once apparently surrounded by a small circle of stones on edge'. The Old Man (4) Magi Stone and White House (5) are all names given for this standing stone. (4,5) A 1.7 metre long, 0.5m wide stone lying in the moorland is probably all that remains of this standing stone, its common name being 'The Fiddler'. There is no trace of the stone circle. Published survey correct. (6) No change since report of 21 1 72. Surveyed at 1:2500 on PFD. (7)
