CAERHAYS CASTLE

Castelled mansion built in 1808. It was designed by John Nash and is asymmetrical in plan with circular and polygonal towers. There was a chapel, possibly SW 97084159 adjoining the gatehouse of the old mansion of Carhays which had been a house of some importance since the 12th century. The old house was completely destroyed when the present Caerhays Castle was built in 1808.
