More information : (SW 97104161) Caerhays Castle (NAT) (1) There was a chapel, possibly SW 97084159 (4), adjoining the gatehouse of the old mansion of Carhays which had been a house of some importance since the 12th century. The old house was completely destroyed when the present Caerhays Castle, designed by John Nash, was built in 1808. Grade II (2-4)
A large castellated mansion built in 1808 by John Nash for J.B Trevanion. Its asymmetrical in plan with circular and polygonal towers. Generally of gothic composition. Grade I. To the southwest of the house are service buildings arranged around two courtyards. Within the grounds is a folly (5).
