HORNBY PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Site of a Premonstratensian priory cell of Croxton, founded in circa 1172 and dissolved in 1538. It may have been a hospital between 1160 and 1172. The discovery of Anglo-Saxon cross fragments built into the early 19th century barn of Priory Farm possibly indicate the site of an 8th century church/monastery. There are no visible remains of the Priory.
