More information : "The mysterious land-owning monastery of St Cheus mentioned in Domesday (in Powder), 1085, possibly refers to Kea", (and so to "Old Kea". The site of the old parish church at SW 844417). (1) Knowles and Hadcock concur with Henderson. In their 1953 edition giving foundation 1066 and dissolution circa 1080, but in the 1971edition merely repeating Henderson's supposition. (See SW 84 SW 14 for Old Kea Church). (2,3) Kea listed as a possible lan or pre-Saxon monastic establishment. (4)
