More information : [SW 8818 3752] Dingerein Castle [LB] (1) A defensive earthwork with parts of two outstanding ramparts. Scheduled. (2-4) Dingerein Castle is a roughly circular earthwork of Chun Castle type enclosing a level area and consisting of an almost complete inner rampart with a length of concentric outer rampart in the north and west, no remains of this outer rampart being traceable around the remainder. Probably I.A./R.B. Surveyed at 1:2500. (5)
SW 88203754. An iron Age small multivallate hillfort and annexe, known as Dingerein Castle. The inner rampart is visible on the north and west sides as a bank and on the east as a scarp. The concentric outer rampart survives as a substantial earthwork incorporated in boundary banks around the north, west and south sides. The ditch between these ramparts appears on aerial photographs and on the ground as a low flat strip outside the inner rampart. A second ditch, lying beyond the outer rampart, is now only visible on aerial photographs. The annexe lies to the south east of the hillfort and is defined by a bank and outer ditch, the bank visible as a low scarp but the ditch appearing only on aerial photographs. A fogou or underground chamber is associated with the hillfort but has not been located. Scheduled. (6)
