Summary : Site of Tulketh Abbey, the first Savigniac house founded in England. It was founded by Stephen, Count of Boulogne, later King of England. However, it was transferred to Furness in 1127. The abbey lies in the grounds of the now deserted Tulketh Hall. |

Tulketh - Cistercian Abbey (sic). This was the first site of the abbey, founded 4th July 1124, which was transferred in 1127 to Furness. (2)
Ruins are mentioned in 1774 together with part of a 'fosse'. (The latter was probably remains of the motte and bailey, see SD 53 SW 2). (3)
There are no visible remains of the abbey, its site falls within the grounds of the now deserted Tulketh Hall. (4) |
