Summary : Iron Age hillfort/cliff castle
More information : (SW 755165) Cliff Castle (NR) (1) Carrack Luz, Lankidden. Univallate cliff castle of about 3 acres. Entrance in E of centre. (2-3) Univallate cliff castle. Ditch approximately 8' deep. Bank on inner side surviving to a height of 4 ft. Ditch rock cut in base. Modern entrance thro' the rampart probably corresponds with the ancient entrance. Under pasture. (4) SW 755165. A single bank up to 4.0m high with an outer ditch 0.5m deep across Lankidden promontory isolates an area of approximately one hectare. The rampart, 100.0m long, ends in the E on the edge of steep cliffs, but in the W the terminal has been destroyed by cliff erosion. A modern track crosses the rampart to the E of its centre, but this is clearly not an original entrance. The position of the entrance is not now apparent. DOE measurements erroneous. Published survey 25" revised. (5) Listed. (6) SW 755 165. Lankidden, Carrack or Carrick Luz. Listed in gazetteer as a univallate hillfort in a coastal position covering ?0.6ha. (7) Arrowan near Carrag Luz. Listed as cliff castle. [Plan]. (8)
