The branch served as an important link with the mining area around Gwennap. It was closed in 1936. Just outside Redruth (approximately SW 69444153 - SW 69754087) was a half mile long incline. It was worked by steam and had a balanced two rail track system. At the top of the incline was a railway mile post-314 1/2 mile to Paddington. (3-4)
