Hoard Of Axes

Hob Uid: 425859
Location :
Cornwall
Gwinear-Gwithian
Grid Ref : SW6290039100
Summary : Bronze hoard comprising 40 to 50 socketed axes found at Higher Roseworthy prior to 1881
More information : A hoard of fragments of 40-50 LBA socketed axes was
found at Higher Roseworthy (Viaduct Farm) (SW 630392) before 1881.
They are now distributed between the Royal Institute of Cornwall
(Truro), Camborne and private collections. (1)

From the comment "within 200 yards of the place is Carsawsin
Rounds" (a), and apparently found on the land of Mrs Miriam Eva,
the tenant of Viaduct Farm, it may be deduced that the hoard was
found in the area SW 629391. (2)

Henderson notes that the axes were found near the round, in
his Mss. (3)
