Summary : Medieval moated site surviving as an earthwork.

Homestead moat at Ingrave Farm, New Lane, Eccleston. (2)

The farmhouse is entirely modern and shows no traces of any
preceding structure. The tenant can offer no factual information
about the site.
The moat is correctly portrayed on the O.S.25" Lancs 77/5. 1928
Edition. It is filled along its whole length with stagnant water,
and varies in width from 11.0m. on the east side to 15.0 m. on the
west side. The depth to water level is approximately 2.0 m. at
all points. (3)

A 25" survey has been made. (4)
