More information : A Mesolithic flint working site was excavated by Marsden in 1914 on a bare patch of ground outside the wireless mast enclosure on Pedn-men-an-mere (SW 384218). Flints were found on the surface and lying flat near the surface of the soil, which nowhere was more than 15ins deep. The finds consisted of about 1500 pieces of worked flint and chert, and included some specimens comparable with Upper Palaeolithic deposits in France (3) and also a leaf-shaped arrowhead. Flints from the site are in Truro Museum. Some flints from this area are in Penzance Museum (5). (See SW 32 SE 1 for location map (4) of Marsden's flint sites).
