Summary : A gritstone cross base at Three Lane Ends in Standish. It was originally situated on the west side of Standish Green Lane but was moved when the road was widened. The cross is one of four known crosses which functioned as waymarkers on the medieval route from Wigan to Standish which continues towards Chorley. The cross base survives well even if worn on the top surface.

The cross from this site has now been re-erected at SD 56880953.(3)

Cross [T.I.] [at SD56180953]. (4)

The original site of this cross at SD55980999[A] is now occupied
by Green Lane. According to T.C.3. this cross was moved to
SD56180953 [B] where it now stands at the junction of three lane
ends. It consists only of a stone base measuring 0.9m square at the
foot and 0.7m square at the top, height 0.3m. The socket hole
measures 0.35m x 0.3m and is 0.2m deep. (5)
