Summary : In 1952 a hoard of 37 sestertii was found in Slay Hill Saltings, 100 feet SE of the find spot of the 1864 coin hoard (TQ 87 SE 17), in a pot of poor fabric said to be of local manufacture. The coins range from Domitian to Commodus (AD 81-192) and were in such a poor state that this is probably a currency hoard rather than a treasure hoard. A late 2nd century hoard. |
