Summary : Possible Medieval fishpond. A large apparently natural pond close to the friary buildings, which could have been used for a fish pond, but is now an ornamental feature. The western end has been filled in by tipping waste gravel. There are remains of a feeding channel running from the river, controlled by a sluice, thus making it a tidal pond. |

Centred TQ 72315894. A large apparently natural pond close to the friary buildings, which could have been used for a fish pond, but is now an ornamental feature. The western end has been filled in by tipping waste gravel. There are remains of a feeding channel running from the river, controlled by a sluice, thus making it a tidal pond. Reference Authy 2, only the one pond was found. Enquiries revealed no certain knowledge that this was a fish pond. (3)
