Summary : Country house designed by Thomas Archer and built 1710-12 for Thomas Carey, a wealthy City merchant. In 1911-1913, Edwin Lutyens added two 3-storey wings and a pair of 2-storey pavilions. The house was converted for use as a limb-fitting hospital for disabled servicemen in 1915. |

Roehampton House at Queen Mary's Hospital is of three storeys with basement; the walls are of brick, with some freestone dressings; the roofs are covered with modern slates and lead flats. The house was built by Thomas Archer between 1710-12 and enlarged by Lutyens in 1910-13. (1,2)
