Four flat bowl barrows on Perry Hill, each containing a skeleton.
Possibly Saxon grave mounds. Finds included a typical Saxon knife
and fragments of BA and RB pottery. (1-2)

One bowl barrow (probably 'A') remains at TQ 05540944, having
a diameter of 80m and a height of 0.3m. There are no traces of
a ditch. The barrow is situated within a patch of rough pasture.
Close by, at TQ05550944, is the site of a second barrow,
(probably 'B') recognisable by a slight circular rise of ground,
c 7.0m in diameter and not more than 0.15m in height, situated
in an area of close-cropped downland pasture.

Of the remaining barrows, no trace was found. The site of 'C'
falls beneath the corner of a water reservoir and that of 'D'
in arable land at present under pasture. Surveyed at 1:2500. (3)

Discussion and description of barrows, graves and finds. Note also no. 106 in Welch's gazetteer - unlocated Saxon barrows in the area of Burpham, probably located close to Perry Hill. (4)
