Summary : Benedictine nunnery founded 1125-35 dissolved 1525. Small scale excavations in 1964 revealed the foundations of the chancel to the East of the modern church. The North wall of the chancel, dated to the 13th century, is aligned with the North wall of the present modern church, the North wall of which is also 13th century, and of 3 arcades. A stone coffin was also found. |
