SLEVESHOLM PRIORY

Cluniac cell founded on St Mary's Isle at Slevesholm dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and St Giles. It was either granted by William de Warenne in 1222-6, or established in the reign of Stephen, for a prior and 1-2 monks. Dependent on Castle Acre, it became denizen 1351-74 and was finally dissolved in 1537. There are no extant remains.
