MONUMENT NO. 375165

A monastery is said to have been founded about the year 630 by St Felix, first bishop of the East Saxons, at Seham (Soham). He is said to have had his episcopal see here for a short time until he moved it to Dunwich (see TM47SE13). Its site is supposed to have been on the East side of the main village street opposite the present church, which has 12th century origins.
