More information : (TL 5536 1340) Colville Hall (NR) (TL 5540 1335) Gateway (NR) (1) The house (in fairly good condition) built c 1500, had considerable rebuilding in the 16th and 17th centuries. A gateway of red brick, now in poor condition, is contemporary with the house. House Grade II*. (2-3) "This building was never a Manor. Its name is Colville Hall (a)". (4) Colville Hall (Nameplate) an outstanding example of Tudor architecture, recently restored. The contemporary gateway, incorporated in a later garden wall, is in danger of collapsing. At TL 5533 1343 is a stable block of the same period in outstanding, original condition. According to the owner, Mr Webster, the ponds at TL 554 133, TL 554 134 and TL 553 135 represent the remains of a moat, but this is highly improbable as the ponds occur at different levels.
