Summary : A Roman bronze-workers hearth was excavated in 1972 by J Sewter, who found waste bronze and fragments of possible coin moulds. The site was indicated by Miss Davison at TL 47251224 but it is now covered by modern housing development. It is regarded as an outlier of the extensive Romano-British metalworking area to the north (TL 41 SE 4). |

The Roman bronze-workers hearth was excavated in 1972 by J Sewter, who found waste bronze and fragments of possible coin moulds. The site was indicated by Miss Davison at TL 47251224 but it is now covered by modern housing development. It is regarded as an outlier of the extensive Romano-British metalworking area to the north (TL 41 SE 4). No further finds reported. (2)
