Wakeley possessed 10 households in 1428, but in the 1801
Census the population was 7. Many traces of the main part of the
village are visible in Chapel Mead (TL341269), an 8 acres field
just east of Wakeley Farm. Also inside this area is the reputed
site of the church, perhaps marked by a little mound 3ft high
Listed as a DMV. (3-5)

The remains of Wakeley DMV centred at TL 342 269 in Chapel Mead,
now under pasture. The site of the church is indicated by a
rectangular robber trench, measuring c 16.5m ENE-WSW by c 7.0m
transversely. There is no trace of stonework. All that can be
seen of the DMV are three enclosures, bounded by shallow
depressions not more than 0.3m deep, situated on the S side of a
trackway presumably the main street.
Surveyed at 1:2500. (6)
