by an outer ditch are visible at TL 21902812. (1)
TL 2185 2810 medieval monastic earthworks to the N of Wymondley
Priory. To the N of the modern farm in a pasture field are the
earthwork remains medieval cultivation overlain by a small
agricultural complex attached to the priory (see NMR no. TL 22 NW
15).
The medieval earthworks are overlain by a later post-Dissolution
layout: the field was planted as an ornamental parkland (see separate
record).
The above description is summarised from a detailed level 3 RCHME
1:1000 scale survey of Wymondley Priory conducted in August 1990. The
results of the survey are held in the NMR archive. (2)
