More information : (TL 0618 9914) Roman Villa (GS) (Site of) (TI) (1) Roman villa found in Peel's Quarry in 1934 (siting as above). (2) A pillared hypocaust, about 5' wide, probably part of a small house, was found with much late Roman pottery in Mr C Gordon Peel's pits on the Wansford-King's Cliffe road. (3) A big building, very extensive, but with only "crazy" stone floors. There was a very good pillared hypocaust but it could be a drying room just as well as a bath or room heating. (4) Peel's Quarry is now being filled with rubbish. No further a information. (5)
