MULLICOURT PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Mullicourt Priory, dedicated to St Mary Bello Loco, was extant as a small Saxon monastery of the Benedictine order of which the date and founder is unknown. It was subject to flooding and represented as too poor to support more than one monk in the time of King Henry VI - 1445. Therefore, in 1449 it was appropriated to the priory of Ely and at the Dissolution it was valued with Ely. Nothing remains above the foundations and the site is now partly occupied by a farmhouse.
