Summary : The Church of St Peter in South Somercotes, Lincolnshire. The earliest part of the church dates to circa 1200 and there are additions and alterations dating to the 14th century, 15th century and 16th century. It was restored in 1866 and 1896. It was constructed of limestone, greenstone and ironstone coursed rubble, limestone ashlar and some red brick. There are slate and lead roofs, the former with decorative red ridge tiles. The spire is a rare feature in these parts. In the churchyard is the base and shaft, 34in. high, of the cross. (2-5) The church is in normal use. Dedicated to St.Peter (see TF 49 NW 1).
