More information : [Area TF 275164] A small group of small ditched enclosures under grass at Weston Fen North, associated with northward branches of the watercourse system, see TF 21 NE 16, visible on air photographs, Site visited in October 1950 and January, 1951. In 1952 boys of Spalding Grammar School trial trenched, at TF 2761 1647, by permission of Mr. S. Halgarth, farmer, of Weston Hills, an occupation level dating from A.D. 80/90 to AD 140/50. Sherds were extraordinarily prolific and rectangular blocks (saltern), 8 c.m. by 4 c.m. by more than 15 c.m., came from a hearth on the purely domestic excavated site. The dating here reinforces the evidence of early aactivity on closely adjacent sites, see also TF 21 NE. 7,8,9,14,16. (1-3) This site is under crop. No visual evidence of occupation. Mr. and Mrs. Hallam were teachers at Spalding Grammar School and the instigators of the above mentioned excavation, they are now abroad. The majority of Mrs. Hallam's finds are in Lincoln Museum. (4) TF 276165. Weston Fen north-east; a small settlement consisting of a group of enclosures and parallel droves visible on air photographs (a & b). (Full description of auths 1 to 3). (5)
