Medieval and Post-Medieval pottery collected by R and E Russell. (6)
Earthworks of the DMV of Beckfield were destroyed in 1975 and are recorded from APs. (7)
The Medieval settlement, referred to by the previous authorities, was seen as earthworks and, after ploughing, as cropmarks, and mapped from good quality air photographs. The remains comprise a hollow way (the road referred to by authority 5), centred at TF 1904 9267, flanked by enclosures which are probably tofts and crofts. Possible strip lynchets, measuring up to 300m by 40m, are visible on the east facing slope above the village, centred at TF 1912 9283. (Morph No. LI.269.3.1-3, 4.1)
