Summary : Medieval moat with associated enclosures, possibly a grange of Sempringham Priory. The course of Car Dyke can be traced within it, re-cuting of which and subsequent soil spread has damaged the east and south west parts of the moat.
More information : [TF 1294 3296] Moat [G.T.]. (1) This has associated enclosures on the west and north and is likely to be medieval, possibly a Grange of Sempringham Priory. The course of the Car Dyke can be traced with it, as a marshy depression. See AO/LP/64/237. Scheduled as medieval moated site. (2-5) Published survey (25") revised. (6) Re-cutting of the adjacent Car Dyke and subsequent soil spreading has destroyed the E arm, and active rubble dumping in the SW adjuncts is destroying these features. Revision of 1965 revised. (7)
