More information : [TF 05353762] ST. ANDREW'S CH. [TU] (1)

St. Andrew's Church, Scott Willoughby, Aunsby and Dembleby, was rebuilt, or renovated, in 1826 using old materials. There is a two-light Early English window at the east end of the chancel. The bell and the font are 13th Century (3).

Pevsner says built in 1826 and remodelled in 1863 (4) William Wynliff, who died in 1415, requested burial in St. Andrew's Church, proving an earlier church on the site (2). (2-4)

In normal use.

Above the pulpit is a small fragment of Saxon stonework. See G.P. AO/65/106/2. (5)

Part of a mid-10th-11th century grave cover is reset in the chancel arch. It was presumably set there in either 1826 or when the chancel was remodelled in 1863. It is in two adjacent fragments, made of limestone and of mid-Kesteven design. (6)
