Priory (NR) (Benedictine) (NAT). (1)

The present house is almost entirely 18th and 19thc's; some fragments of the monastic buildings have been reused. (2)

Benedictine Priory founded in 1100, dissolved 1524. (3)

In 1933 while excavating in the old monastery garden called Tickford Abbey, in Newport Pagnell parish, A Bullard found the foundations of the continuation of an old stone wall c2'6" thick, one direction going towards the river, the other going by the roadway to the Abbey. The indications are that the old monastery was bounded by the river on one side and completely wallED in by a high stone wall on the other sides. Fragments of pre-Roman pottery were also found. (4)

No structure remains of Priory but re-used masonry is incoprorated in a garden wall. During the construction of an extension to the rear of the present building at SP 88304404 in 1974, the building workers found and destroyed a number of human skeletons. No grave goods or associated objects were found. (5)
